Good morning! The Spartans have had a success week in the eyes of the Mountain West. Five Spartans have received conference honors this week, keep reading to find out who!

🔼 Our Conference. The first-ever Mountain West Gymnasts of the Week awards were announced yesterday and four Spartans were honored! Lauren Macpherson was named the Mountain West Gymnast of the Week after scoring a 38.850 in the all-around. The Freshman of the Week honor went to Marissa Ashton, she was the top freshman in the conference with a 9.825 on beam. The Vault Specialist of the Week was Madison Kirsch, who scored a 9.850. The Spartans round out with Jada Mazury earning the Co-Bars Specialist of the Week thanks to her team best score of 9.875.
🔼 Down To The Wire. The men’s basketball team went toe-to-toe with No. 19 San Diego State last night, but eventually fell 81-78. The Spartans fought hard with four players scoring in double figures. Alvaro Cardenas led the team with 21 points and six assists. Myron Amey Jr. was right behind him with 20 points and added two steals. Tibet Görener was 50% from beyond the arc and scored 15 points. Trey Anderson led the team with six boards and added 11 points. The Spartans will be back in action on Saturday at Air Force.
🔼 Rookie Love. Women’s basketball player Jyah LoVett was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week! The guard averaged 23.5 points in her first week of conference play. She shot 18-of-21 from the field and 6-of-8 from three-point range. Jyah scored a career-high 26 points against Fresno State and 21 points against Utah State. This is her second Freshman of the Week honor!
The women’s basketball team will be back in action tonight at UNLV for a 6:30 pm Mountain West matchup.
⚔️ ONE BIG THING
Twelve Spartan football players were named to Phil Steele’s 2023 Postseason Mountain West All-Conference Team.
First Team: Chevan Cordeiro, Kairee Robinson, and Soane Toia
Second Team: Nick Nash, Tre Smith, and Jay’Vion Cole
Third Team: Anthony Pardue and Bryun Parham
Fourth Team: Quali Conley, Jordan Pollard, Andrew Gonneville, and Fernando Carmona Jr.
