📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Opening Weekend. The baseball team played its season opener against Long Beach State. The Spartans had a shutout victory on Friday, winning 8-0. Alex Fernandes went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate. Kyle Calzadiaz tossed 5.0 hitless innings. The men fell 12-3 on Saturday. SJSU ended up winning the series with a 3-2 victory on Sunday. Rohne Klein hit the go-ahead RBI double with two outs in the ninth to get the win.

🔼 Season-High. The gymnastics team beat Utah State with a season-high score of 196.350. The score is also the 11th-highest team score in school history. Mikaela Pitts won a title in vault. Victoria Kisch won the bars. Genesis PeBeniton won the floor title.

🔼 Water Works. The No. 18 women’s water polo team competed at the Bronco Invitational this past weekend. The Spartans beat No. 12 Marist 15-14. Darcy Spark scored five times. The women went on to beat No. 25 CSUN 14-8 and No. 20 Brown 8-4 on Saturday. Bridget Cranley led the Spartans in scoring in both matches. SJSU finished with a 13-9 win over Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday. Spark led the team with eight goals.

🔼 On Track. The track and field team competed at the Battle Born Classic. On day one, Zoe Ewell broke the SJSU record for the women’s 60m dash with a time of 7.28. On day two, Amanda Chalburg placed sixth in the women’s 3,000m. run.

🔼 Climbing Up. The women’s golf team is tied for 9th place at the Alice and John Wallace Classic. The Spartans have a team score of 597 (+29). Regina Roldan leads the team in 18th place individually.

Court Reports.

The women’s tennis team beat Saint Mary’s #-# on Friday.
