Spartan Brew 3/16: Baseball & Softball Win Series
The baseball and softball teams each won their series this past weekend.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Conference Opener. The softball team opened conference play against UNLV on Friday. The Spartans won 5-2. Delaney Faus pitched 5.2 total innings and struck out a career-high five batters. The women fell in game two 3-2. San José State won the final game of the series on Sunday, 4-3. Ahmiya Noriega went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three singles.
🔼 On the Diamond. The baseball team walked-off its first game of the series against New Mexico. The Spartans won 1-0. Peyton Rowles hit an RBI double to left field in the bottom of the 10th inning. The men fell in game two 8-7. San José State finished the weekend with a 3-0 shutout to win the series. Dylan Smith and Tyler Albanese combined to hold New Mexico scoreless.

🔼 Big Swimmers. The swim and dive team competed at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships. The Spartans finished in 13th and had six top-10 finishes. The 400 medley relay team finished second, recording the third-fastest time in school history. The 200 freestyle relay team, Vilma Lindberg and Lillie Grover all had fourth place finishes.

🔼 Sweep! The women’s beach volleyball team swept Pacific on Alumni Day. All five Spartan pairs were victorious against Pacific, winning 5-0. Two matches went into three sets.
🔼 Grind Mode. The football team is grinding at spring practice. In case you need extra excitement for the football season coming up, here are some wallpapers for your phone! And watch this video where head football coach Ken Niumatalolo spoke following the first week of spring football practices.

The Meet. The gymnastics team scored 196.075 in its tri-meet against California and Stanford on Friday.
