📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Breakfast & Baseball. Spartan pitcher Michael Rice made his return to his former school UC Santa Barbara, pitching a career-high five innings and season-high four strikeouts. Nathan Cadena went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the first inning. The Spartans were down one run before Sebastian Orduno drove in the tying run in the eighth inning. They fell 3-2 in extra innings. The Spartans will play just one more game today at 11:05 am. You can tune in on ESPN+.

🔼  Spartan Split. The track & field team is splitting up this weekend to compete at two different meets. The sprints, hurdles, jumps, and throws members will compete at the Stanford Invitational, while the distance crew will compete in the Mike Fanelli Track Classic hosted by San Francisco State over the next two days. They’re coming off a solid indoor season where they won seven Mountain West titles.

🔼 Rain, Rain, Go Away. Last night’s softball game at Boise State just wasn’t in the cards. The game got moved to today as they’ll play a doubleheader beginning at 2 pm. The series will conclude tomorrow morning at 11 am. You can stream the games on the Mountain West Network.

🔼 Quick Turnaround. The men’s golf team is already back in action after completing the Oregon Duck Invitational on Tuesday. This time, they’re playing The Goodwin hosted by Stanford. The field includes No. 7 Tennessee, No. 19 UC Berkeley, No. 25 Oregon, the host school, and others. They finished round one in 17th with Zubair Firdaus leading the team in eighth-place individually. They’ll continue the tournament today and tomorrow.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

Spartan football added three new members to the staff this week! Michael Smith was named Running Backs Coach after a season as the Associate Head Coach, Run Game Coordinator, and Running Backs Coach at Northern Colorado. Garrett Wolfe was named Assistant Athletics Director for Football Ops and Chief of Staff, he was the Director of Football Ops at Stanford last year. Kyle Wolff was named Head Football Athletic Trainer. He was the head athletic trainer at Morehead State from 2016-2024. Former Beyond Sparta Coordinator Clesi Crochet was named Director of Football Ops.
