📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Record Racing. The Spartans are competing at the Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championship this week, and finding some success. Jenna Jagielski set a school record and finished third in the 1-meter springboard and the 3-meter springboard! She’s the first Spartan diver to finish in the top 3 of the 1-meter springboard since joining the conference. Ela Frieman broke the school record and finished fourth in the 200 IM.

🔼 Home-Opening Weekend. The home-opener was taken away from us due to some nasty weather, but the Spartans are finally at Excite Ballpark! They’ll take on Seattle U in a three-game series this weekend. First pitch is scheduled for 3:05 pm this afternoon. Last weekend, Hunter Dorraugh tied the San José State home run record, so he will look to break it.

🔼 Rook’s Cookin’. Women’s tennis player Cheuk Ying Shek was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the second time this season! She went 2-0 last weekend in the win over Saint Mary’s. She won the No. 3 singles flight in straight sets and won the No. 1 doubles flight. She and Irena Muradyan are undefeated together this season. The women’s tennis team will take on CSU Fullerton on the road today at 1:30 pm.

🔼  Double Dose. More conference awards came in for the Spartans! Men’s golfer Carl Corpus was named the Mountain West Golfer of the Week after tying for second-place out of 124 golfers at the Amer Ari Invitational. He shot a total score of 198 (-18). Women’s golfer Lucia Lopez Ortega was also named Mountain West Golfer of the Week! She finished in sixth-place at 3-under 216 at the Pac-12 Preview this week. It was her third top-10 finish of the season.

🔼 Chasing Championships. The Spartan track & field teams are at the Mountain West Indoor Championship in New Mexico this weekend! The Albuquerque Convention Center is a good place for the Spartans, their last meet was there and they broke multiple records. The meet started yesterday and will run through tomorrow.

👕 SPARTAN CAREER CLOSET

Spartan Athletics has partnered with Kaiser Permanente to host a professional clothing drive that supports the on-campus Spartan Career Closet. 

From now until the middle of March, fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used professional clothes at any Men’s or Women’s basketball game or gymnastics meet. Donation bins will be visible at the entrance to Provident Credit Union Event Center to collect your donations. 

An alternate method of donation is to purchase items directly from the Spartan Career closet’s Amazon wishlist. All purchases will be sent directly to the Spartan Career Closet.
