🔼 Fantastic Four. Game one was won by the Spartans! The men’s basketball team got the win last night over UC Irvine, 72-64. Four Spartans scored in double figures, with Trey Anderson leading the way with 19 points. Tibet Görener produced 17 points, MJ Amey scored 12, and Alvaro Cardenas scored 11. This was Coach Tim Miles’ 800th game as a head coach!

🔼 Young Bucks. The freshmen stood out in Monday night’s women’s basketball opener. Jyah LoVett led the Spartans in her collegiate debut with 13 points and four steals. Freshman Maya Anderson also had a big debut, scoring nine off the bench. Finau Tonga was big on the glass in her first appearance as a Spartan, she pulled down nine rebounds. The defense was strong, holding Santa Clara to 55 points — the Broncos only scored less than 60 in one game last season. They’ll be back at it on Thursday when Bellarmine comes to town at 5pm on NBC Sports Bay Area.

🔼 Rivalry Week. We’re gearing up for this weekend’s Battle for the Valley against No. 25 Fresno State! The Bulldogs are coming to CEFCU for a 7:30pm kickoff on Saturday. Get your tickets ahead of time here. If you can’t make it out, we’ll be live on CBS Sports Network.
