📈 STOCK UP
🔼 First Dub. The football team won its first game of the season on Saturday against Eastern Michigan. The Spartans won 27-21. Cooper Hoch had two touchdowns and Jase Nix had one. Quarterback Luke Weaver went 23-for-39 for 316 yards and three touchdowns. Hoch finished with a career-high five receptions for 115 yards. Nix’s touchdown was also his first career catch.

🔼 Wrapped Up. The women’s golf team finished the Pan Pacific University Super Golf League Tournament in Japan. The Spartans finished in fourth place with a score of 882 (+30). Tessa Kremser led the team hitting even to par through three rounds. She was the top American woman in the field and tied for third in the women’s field. Lotte Schuhr followed with a score of 8-over.

🔼 Weekend Matches. The volleyball team started its weekend with a 3-1 win over Pacific. Learden Lee led the team with 11 kills and Lolohea Fonua and Devon DeNecochea each had 10. Fatimah Hall recorded a double-double with 19 assists and 15 digs. The Spartans wrapped up the SJSU Invite with a 3-0 win over LSU New Orleans. Hall and DeNecochea earned All-Tournament Team honors. SJSU hit a season-best .450 in the match. The 13 service aces are tied for the third-most nationally in a three-set match and the most by a team in the Mountain West this season.

🔼 Fought Hard. The men’s soccer team played a strong game against No. 1 Stanford. Goalkeeper Ronin Alexson made six saves. However, Stanford was able to score and win the game 1-0.

🔼 Split Day. The No. 10 men’s water polo team competed in the Aggie Roundup on Saturday. The men beat No. 18 Harvard 14-8. Samu Brios led the team with four goals. Against No. 4 Cal, the men fell 14-10. Brios again led the team in goals, this time with five. SJSU played in an exhibition match against American River College where they won 12-6.
🤔 SPARTAN TRIVIA
Personal Best! The cross country team opened its season at the USF Invitational. The men finished in 15th and the women finished 12th.
Alexander Walker set a new personal record of 25:48 in the men’s #k.
