📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Spartans To The Semis. The women’s tennis team is taking names in the Mountain West Tournament this week. They took down Boise State in the first round, but a big challenge awaited. The Spartans needed to defeat No. 1 seed New Mexico, a team that beat them earlier in the season. San José State accepted that challenge and beat the Lobos 4-2 after Irena Muradyan, Rozalina Youseva, and Cheuk Ying Shek won in straight sets. They’ll take on the semifinals for the second-straight year, where they’ll face No. 4 UNLV today at 11 am.

🔼 Chasing A Championship. The 19th-ranked women’s water polo team takes on the 2024 MPSF Championships this weekend in Indiana. The Spartans own the seven seed and will play the first game of the tournament against two-seeded California at 9 am. Going into the weekend, Sinia Plotz and Darcy Spark were named MPSF All-Conference members.

🔼 Hit The Oregon Trail. The men’s golf team is also chasing a championship this weekend. They’re competing at the Mountain West Championship at the Emerald Valley Golf Club in Oregon. Round one will tee off this morning at 8:50 am. The lineup will include Zubair Firdaus, Carl Corpus, Caleb Shelter, Xuan Luo, and Kristopher Stiles. Kristopher was just awarded the Outstanding Black Student Athlete Award from SJSU’s Black Leadership and Opportunity Center.

🔼 For The Seniors. Spartan softball is home for their last home series of the season, hosting UNLV. Last season, the Spartans took ownership of the series against UNLV. First pitch is tonight at 6 pm at Spartan Softball Stadium. Sunday is Senior Day and they’ll honor seniors from both schools before the 12 pm first pitch. Sunday’s game will also be aired on NBC Sports California Plus.

🔼 Get Excited. Spartan baseball is finally home at Excite Ballpark for the first time since March! They’ll also be hosting UNLV this weekend. The Spartans are coming off a series sweep at Fresno State and look to stay hot this weekend. Home run king Hunter Dorraugh was named Mountain West Player of the Week after the series. The two teams are familiar with each other, UNLV took the series in Las Vegas earlier in the season. First pitch is set for 6:05 pm tonight.
