The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) announced Thursday that the San José State football media relations staff has been selected as a recipient of the 17th Annual Super 11 Awards, recognizing the best-performing College Sports Communicators departments in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Right here. The men’s golf team is hosting the 79th Western Intercollegiate Presented by Titleist. The event will be at the Pasatiempo Golf Club. You can watch the Spartans on the Golf Channel!

🔼 At the Beach. The beach volleyball team beat Pacific 3-0 on Saturday. Grace Baker and Kaia Fanshier, Sabrina Moore and Anna Salmon and Addison DeMarse and Olivia Paxton all won their sets. The women beat CSU Bakersfield 3-2 on Sunday and fell to Saint Mary’s 2-3.

🔼 On the Diamond. The baseball team faced Nevada this past weekend. The men fell in game one 11-1. The Spartans came back to win game two 12-6. Jake McCoy hit a three-run home run and five different Spartans had multiple RBIs. Every player who had an at-bat had a hit. Alex Fernandes went perfect at the plate. Landon Marchetti (1-0) earned the win in relief, striking out three and allowing two runs across two innings. The Spartans finished the series in a 5-4 loss on Sunday.

🔼 Big Performances. The track and field team competed at the Baylor Invitational. Tyson Bonilla won the men’s long jump with a mark of 6.88m. Marcel Bovell secured second place in the men’s 400 hurdles with a time of 52.98.In the men’s 110 hurdles, Julius Baker took third place with a time of 14.30, followed closely by his teammate Hayden Bowne in fourth with a time of 14.48.

Big Hits. The softball team faced San Diego State this past weekend. The team fell in the doubleheader on Saturday, and came back to win 8-0 on Sunday.
