Good morning! Congratulations to women’s tennis player Cheuk Ying Shek for being named Mountain West Freshman of the Year! She also received All-Conference honors in doubles alongside Irena Muradyan. Irena also received All-Conference singles honors with Carolina Millan.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Tourney Time. The No. 8 seed women’s tennis team is taking on No. 9 seed Boise State at the Mountain West Tournament this morning. They’ll get this rematch started at 10 am. The Spartans fell to the Broncos in the regular season, but the Spartans took the doubles point. Duru Durgun and Rozalina Youseva have been on fire, winning nine-straight doubles matches. Boise State enters the tournament losing three of their last four. The Spartans let loose earlier this week and channeled some good Mountain West Tournament vibes with team bonding at Top Golf. The women’s golf team better watch out!

🔼 King Of The Yard, And The Conference. The San José State all-time home run leader Hunter Dorraugh was named Mountain West Player of the Week! He hit three homers over the weekend in the sweep of Fresno State and leads the team with 10 this season. He held a .333 batting average while slugging .933. He drove in five runs in Sunday’s win alone. Hunter has now received seven of these honors throughout his career.

🔼 A Look Back. As we enter this week’s Mountain West Women’s Tennis Tournament, the conference is celebrating its 25th season. They released their Mountain West 25th Season Women’s Tennis Team and it featured two former Spartans! Sybille Gauvain and Marie Klocker were honored for their singles play. Sybille was a Spartan from 2015-18 and finished her career with 132 singles wins. Marie played at San José State from 2014-17 and recorded 142 total wins. The two were also doubles partners and ranked No. 64 nationally in 2017.

On Saturday, April 27th at 11:30 am, come and be a part of the vibrant Spartan Club atmosphere.
