🔼 Season’s Greetings. The Spartans women’s basketball team opens the season tonight at home against Santa Clara! We’re entering the second season under Coach April Phillips. The Spartans return ten players from last season and welcome seven newcomers. San José State beat CSU Monterey Bay in their exhibition game last week. Tip-off is set for 7pm and you can watch live on the Mountain West Network.

🔼 Top-5 Takedown. The 14th-ranked men’s water polo team took down No. 5 Pepperdine, 13-10! Gal Haimovich scored three goals in the fourth quarter and tied the match. Brendon Gyapjas recorded ten saves and four steals. They’ll hit the road to take on Cal Baptist next weekend.

🔼 Award Season. Men’s soccer midfielders Angel Iniguez and Gaku Nishimura received all-conference honors. Angel was named All-WAC First Team after tallying three goals and one assist in conference play. He led the Spartans all season in goals with seven. Gaku was named All-WAC Second Team after leading the Spartans with four multi-point matches.

🔼 Practice Round. The men’s basketball team officially starts the season tomorrow, but first, let’s recap the weekend. They played Cal State East Bay in an exhibition game on Saturday and got the 77-61 win. Five Spartans scored in double-figures. Myron Amey Jr. led the way with 15 points. Freshman Latrell Davis was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line and tacked on 13 points. Adrame Diongue was perfect from the field, scoring 10 points. Check out some of the highlights!
