📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Senior Salute. It was a good Senior Day for Sophie Jones, Alani Fluker, Mia Grizelj, and Semaj Smith as the women’s basketball team got the 68-56 win over Colorado State on Saturday. Sofia Kelemeni scored a career-high 16 points in the win and added seven rebounds and four assists. Sabrina Ma scored 12, while Amhyia Moreland and Semaj Smith scored 11 each. The Spartans held the Rams to just 35.7% shooting from the field. They’ll close out the regular season tomorrow night at 6:30 at Nevada.

🔼 Double-Booked. The Spartan gymnastics team was booked and busy this weekend. They started off with a tri-meet at Air Force on Friday, where they took on the Falcons and Utah State. They came out on top with a score of 196.450. Jada Mazury won the beam and floor titles with 9.900 scores, while Madison Kirsh won vault. Yesterday, they set school records in a quad meet at Denver with Air Force and Lindenwood. The vault team, led by Jaudai Lopes, recorded a 49.200 score to break the nine-year old school record. The floor squad recorded the second-highest team floor score in school history. The Spartans finished with a school record score of 196.675.

🔼 Spartans Start Outdoor Strong. The track & field team started the outdoor season with some top-five finishes! Alexander Walker led the way with a win in the men’s 2,000 steeplechase. Gabriella Hernandez placed second in the women’s 2,000 steeplechase. In the 3,000m run, Amanda Chalburg finished in fourth. Christopher Malone rounds out the top-five Spartans with his fifth-place finish in the men’s 400m.

🔼  Playing In The Sand. The beach volleyball squad got their first win of the season on Saturday over Oregon! Anna Salmon and Shirley Morrison, Cheyenne Rice and Teila Allen, and Jaida Ward and Jada Hall won their sets for Spartan points. They’ll be back in action on Saturday when they play San Francisco.

🔼 The Windy City. Because of some high winds that pushed game two to Sunday, the Spartans got to play a double header at UNLV. The Spartans got the win in the second game on Sunday, 16-15. They hit a home run in each of the first three innings and recorded five total in the win. Robert Hamchik was just a triple away from hitting for the cycle, after starting the game off with a leadoff home run. Theo Hardy led the team with five RBIs and hit a grand slam. Hunter Dorraugh added another to his all-time leading home run count, he now has 28. Dalton Bowling and Nathan Cadena also got in on the home run party. They’ll travel to Saint Mary’s for a game on Tuesday at 2 pm.
