📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Took Flight. The men’s basketball team got in the Mountain West win column thanks to a 69-62 victory at Air Force on Saturday! Will McClendon scored 20 points, including a career-high five three-pointers. He also added four steals, three assists, and two rebounds. The Spartans had 10 steals in the win, the most since 2022. They’ll host New Mexico tomorrow at 7 p.m.
🔼 Hold On Tight. The women’s basketball team also got their first conference win of the season with a 90-84 victory over Air Force. Amiah Simmons led the Spartans in scoring for the second-straight game with a season-high 26 points. Djessira Diawara scored a career-high 22 points and added 10 rebounds for a double-double. The Spartans will hit the road for a matchup at Boise State on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
🔼 All Our Best. Multiple track & field Spartans set personal bests at the Silver and Blue Invitational! On day one, Nakai Johnson and Emilia Sjostrand PR’d in the women’s 60m dash preliminaries, while Tyson Bonilla PR’d in the men’s long jump and finished third. Day two of the meet brought more success as Alyssa Bean won the women’s 400m and took third overall in the 200m. Sjostrand won the women’s triple jump with an NCAA Championship standard mark of 13.37. On the men’s side, Alexander Walker won the 800m, while Michael Chadwick placed second. Christopher Coats won the 400m and took third in the 200m.
🔼 Sweet Victory. The Spartan swim & dive team defeated Cal State East Bay 122-79 on Friday. Shyann Kissinger won the 1000 freestyle and took third in the 500 freestyle. Hailey Grotte, Lais Gasparini e Silva, Ellie Shorten, Mya Azzopardi, and Vilma Lindberg also picked up individual wins. The Spartans will host Nevada on Saturday, January 25 at 1:30 p.m.
🔼 Triple Titles. The Spartans started gymnastics season by winning three event titles at Sacramento State. Madison Kirsch took home the vault title with a 9.800 and tied for first on beam with a 9.850. Madison Gustitus won floor with a 9.800 and took a portion of the beam title with a 9.850. The Spartans finished the meet with a 193.825 team score.
