🔼 Mountain Climbing. The Spartans return home for the third time this season as SJSU is set to enter a new season with Mountain West play on deck this weekend.
On Saturday, the Spartans will welcome the Lobs of New Mexico to town for the conference opener for both squads.
SJSU looks for its fourth straight win over New Mexico and their 11th win over the Lobos in their last 13 games.
🔼 Hardware Haul. KC Mungali fired a final-round 65 to finish second overall with a 13-under, sparking the San José State men’s golf team to a team victory at the Jim DeLapa Collegiate, hosted by Central Michigan at Point O’Woods Golf and Country Club.
The win marks the Spartans’ first tournament title since the Alister MacKenzie Invitational last season (Oct. 7-8, 2024). The Spartans bested teams like Michigan, Saint Mary's, Cincinnati, and Grand Canyon.
San José State closed the event at -15 as a team, notching 22 birdies on Monday and finishing five strokes clear of the field.
🔼 Hey Arnold. For the fourth time this year, SJSU men’s soccer brought home a weekly accolade.
Arnold Matshazi has been named WAC Offensive Player of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday. It marks Matshazi’s first career player of the week award.
Matshazi scored the Spartans' game winning goal in their 2-1 victory over UC Davis on the road last Wednesday. In the 74th minute, Matshazi scored off a one timer shot with his right foot that curled over the opposing goalkeeper.
🔼 Making The List. SJSU defensive back Jalen Apalit-Williams has been named to the watch list for the 2025 Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award.
Apalit-Williams is among the nation’s top college football leaders recognized for their outstanding leadership, courage, integrity, and sportsmanship on and off the field.
The veteran safety was named a captain for the Spartans for the 2025 season and has 26 tackles, an interception, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery this season.
The Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year is the first college football honor to focus primarily on a player’s leadership. Twenty semifinalists will be announced on October 14, followed by three finalists on December 15.

Answer: Four times.
According to Stats Perform, since the beginning of last season, Eget has thrown for at least 375 yards in four different games. That ties him with Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson for second most by any active FBS QB over the last two seasons.
