🔼 The Hall Call. It’s a call that he’ll never forget.
SJSU men’s basketball head coach Tim Miles will be inducted into the Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics Hall of Honor. Miles is one of eight individuals selected for the SMSU Hall of Honor class of 2026. The induction is the highest athletic distinction awarded by the university. Miles will be officially inducted on Jan. 26, 2026.
Miles was the catalyst for turning around Southwest Minnesota State University, who he guided for four seasons from 1997-2001.
Coach Miles is currently entering his fifth season as head coach of the Spartans, who are looking to qualify for postseason play for the third time in four seasons for the first time in school history.
🔼 Scamperin’ Scudero. Add another line to Danny Scudero’s SJSU resume.
Scudero currently leads the nation with 870 receiving yards and 124.3 receiving yards per game.
Earlier this season, Scudero was named to the 2025 Biletnikoff Award Watch List, which recognizes college football’s most outstanding FBS receivers.
This marks the second consecutive season that a San José State wide receiver has earned AP midseason All-America honors. Nick Nash was selected to the First-Team in 2024.
🔼 At It Again. Add another one to the program record.
SJSU men’s soccer standout Javier Lopez was named WAC Defender of the Week on Tuesday, which marks his first career player of the week award and the sixth player of the week award of the season, extending a program record.
He scored his first career goal in the Spartans' 1-1 draw against #RV Grand Canyon on the road. Lopez, who plays centerback, also was vital in limiting GCU to only one goal and limiting Junior Diouf, one of the top goal scorers in the nation, to just one shot and without a shot on goal. GCU came into the match 7-1-0 when playing at home.
🔼 Makin’ Waves. And the accolades continue to roll in for the Spartans.
This time it was the swimming program with Ela Freiman and Genevieve George being named the Mountain West Swimmer and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
Freiman won two individual races and swam the second leg of the winning 200 medley relay team, tallying 33 points towards the win over UC Davis. George won one individual race and a one relay and finished second in another individual race to help the Spartans
