🔼 Among The Elite. SJSU quarterback Walker Eget has been recognized as one of eight quarterbacks nationwide named a Manning Award Star of the Week.
Eget delivered a standout performance in the Spartans’ 35-28 Mountain West victory over New Mexico, completing 26-of-30 passes for 334 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Fans can vote on the Manning Award’s official social media accounts (@ManningAward) and website to determine this week’s Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. Voting closes Wednesday, 7:00 a.m. (PT).
The Manning Award, sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, was created in 2004 to honor the legendary Manning family—Archie, Peyton, and Eli—and is the only quarterback award that takes bowl performances into account. Since its inception, the award has celebrated the nation’s elite quarterbacks for both their on-field excellence and leadership.
🔼 Dynamic Duo. It was a multi-award week for Walker Eget as the Spartans swept the Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week honors after Saturday’s win over New Mexico.
Eget was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. At the same time, Jalen Bainer received Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week recognition following the Spartans’ 35-28 conference-opening victory over New Mexico on Friday night.
These are the first Mountain West weekly awards for the Spartans this season. Last year, SJSU earned one offensive and two defensive Mountain West weekly awards.
🔼 Linkin’ In The Land Of Lincoln. Ting-Yu Chang and Regina Roldan shot under par in the final round of the Illini Women’s Invitational to lead the SJSU women’s golf team at the event held at historic Medinah Country Club.
Chang shot the team’s low score of the final round at 2-under, while Roldan was just one shot back of her at 1-under in Tuesday’s final 18 holes.

🔼 Tip Of The Cap. The athletes weren’t the only ones recognized after Saturday’s big win over New Mexico.
Head Coach Ken Niumatalolo and offensive coordinator Craig Stutzmann both were honored by CBS Sports for their efforts in the victory.
