🔼 Going Bowling. Spartan football picked up their sixth win to become bowl-eligible on Saturday! They defeated Oregon State 24-13 on the road. Walker Eget threw for an astounding 395 yards and a touchdown to Nick Nash. DJ Harvey scored the first pick-six of his career in the fourth quarter. Justin Lockhart hauled in five receptions for 128 yards, his third 100-yard game of the season. Floyd Chalk IV scored his ninth touchdown of the season. The Spartans are bowl-eligible for the third season in a row.
🎟️ Two of the top offensive players in the country will face off on Saturday as Biletnikoff Award candidate Nick Nash welcomes Heisman Trophy candidate Ashton Jeanty to CEFCU Stadium. Purchase your tickets now before it’s too late!
🔼 First Time For Everything. Spartan men’s soccer player Angel Iniguez was named the 2024 WAC Offensive Player of the Year! He also earned All-WAC First Team honors for the second-straight season. He becomes the first Spartan to win the award in school history. Cameron Cook earned WAC All-Freshman Team honors.
Iniguez and the Spartans defeated Utah Valley 1-0 in the quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament. He scored a penalty kick for the lone goal of the game. They’ll play top-seeded San Diego State in the semifinals on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
🔼 Road Warriors. The 13th-ranked men’s water polo team defeated No. 18 LMU 14-10 yesterday. Samu Biros scored three goals and added three assists in the road win. Mitchell Keightley and Maro Tiozzo recorded two goals and an assist each. Spartan goalkeeper Brendon Gyapjas recorded 10 saves and two steals. Eight of the Spartans’ 13 wins this season have come over ranked opponents.
🔼 One To Go. The men’s basketball team fell to Hawaii in the second game of the Outrigger Rainbow Classic last night, 80-69. Donavan Yap scored 16 points and added three steals to lead the Spartans. He went 3-4 from three-point land. Sadaidriene Hall scored 14 points. The Spartans will close out the tournament today at 6:30 p.m.
🔼 That’s A Wrap. The tennis team concluded their fall season at the CSUN Invitational over the weekend. Cheuk Ying Shek won both of her matches on Friday. Olaya Bances Iglesias won her doubles and singles matches on both Friday and Saturday. Duru Durgun won both of her singles and doubles matches to lead the Spartans on Sunday. They’ll return to action in January.
