📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Historic Series Win. Spartan baseball defeated Utah on Friday and Sunday to secure their first series win over a Power 4 opponent since 2011! Jesse Gutierrez allowed just one run in 7.1 innings pitched in Friday’s 2-1 win. They fell to the Utes on Saturday, 5-3. The Spartans secured the series with an 8-5 win on Sunday behind three hits and two RBI from Jake McCoy.
🔼 Finished Strong. The men’s basketball team finished the regular season with a 92-68 win over Fresno State! Donavan Yap scored a career-high 30 points in his final game at the PCUEC. Robert Vaihola recorded a double-double with 13 points and 19 rebounds. He became the first Spartan to record 19 boards since 2012.
The Spartans will play Wyoming in the Mountain West Tournament on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
🔼 Senior Celebration. Spartan gymnastics celebrated Senior Day in a big way yesterday! They scored a season-high 195.750 against Oregon State. They started the meet with a 49.125 on vault, the third-highest vault score in school history. The beam team scored a 49+ for the fourth time this season.
🔼 Spartans Outside. The track & field team started the outdoor season at the Cal Opener over the weekend! Sky Hagan won the women’s 100m, while Christopher Coats won the men’s. Lina Schubert won the women’s high jump, while DeShawn Banks took third in the men’s edition. Cameron Tarver ran a personal best in the men’s 400m, securing second-place. They’ll have a little break before competing at the Hornet Invitational on March 22.
🔼 Pickin’ Up Wins. Spartan softball went 2-1 at the Silicon Valley Classic II over the weekend. They defeated Santa Clara 4-3 on Saturday to start the weekend. They split Sunday with Princeton, winning game one 7-6 in eight innings and dropping game two 7-2.
