What are we pouring into today’s Brew?

🎾 Mountain West awards
🏐 Success in the sand
⚔️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Spartans Sweep. The Mountain West women’s tennis weekly awards belong to the Spartans! Irena Muradyan earned Player of the Week after two singles and a doubles win. She won 24 out of 30 games in singles against San Francisco and Santa Clara. Duru Durgun was named Freshman of the Week after going 5-0 with three straight-set wins in singles and two doubles wins. The 8-1 Spartans will open conference play at Boise State today at 10 am.

🔼  Double The Fun. Beach volleyball went 2-0 at Pacific on Wednesday with 4-1 and 5-0 wins! This weekend, they’ll host the inaugural Sand José State Invitational. Tomorrow, they’ll take on Sacramento State at noon and Texas A&M Corpus Christi at 3 pm. They’ll play Saint Mary’s at 9 am on Sunday, Utah at noon, and an exhibition game against Sierra College at 3 pm.

🔼 All The Buzz. The track & field team will get into the outdoor season today and tomorrow at the Hornet Invitational, hosted by Sacramento State. This will be the first outdoor meet of the season for Emilia Sjostrand, who is the defending conference outdoor champion in the long jump and triple jump. She was just the runner up in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships last weekend. Demaris Waters and Jeremiah Walker are also defending Mountain West Champions in their events.

🔼 Rivalry Weekend. Spartan baseball looks to bounce back this weekend as they host Fresno State. The Spartans fell to San Francisco in extra innings earlier this week. Dalton Bowling is leading the conference with six home runs so far this season. They’ll get things started tonight at 6:05 pm, continue tomorrow at 2:05 pm, and close out at Excite Ballpark on Sunday at 12:05 pm.

🔼 Kicking Off Conference Play. Softball will start conference play at home this weekend, hosting New Mexico. They’ll play tonight at 6 pm, tomorrow at 3 pm, and finish up on Sunday at noon. All of the games will air on the Mountain West Network. The Lobos are coming off midweek double header losses to Texas Tech, while the Spartans went 3-2 in the SVC II last weekend. Hear from Coach Lohmann ahead of the weekend!

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

All About Community. For the third-straight time, San José State has won the Mountain West SAAC Community Service Award! They spent 20,000 hours serving the community and donated 20,000 products in 2023-24. Student-athletes doubled their hours this season in product donations through sanitary and toy drives.
