🔼 Double Dose. Last week, the women’s soccer program officially kicked off the 2025-26 athletic calendar for the Spartans.
Tomorrow, they are joined by the men’s squad as both teams hit the pitch for Thursday evening intrastate battles.
The men are set to play host to Cal Poly at 7 pm, while the women hit the road to take on UC-Davis at 7 pm as well.
🔼 Slingin’ It. For the first time since 2020, a SJSU quarterback was named to the Golden Arm Award Watch List as Walker Eget earned that recognition this week from the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation.
Eget, a California native, started a career-high seven games in 2024, throwing for 2,504 yards on 188 completions with 13 touchdowns. He helped lead the Spartans to their program-record third consecutive bowl appearance and a memorable Thanksgiving weekend victory over Stanford.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented annually to the nation’s top senior or upperclassman quarterback on track to graduate with their class. The award recognizes players who demonstrate the traits exemplified by Unitas himself—integrity, tenacity, leadership, and excellence both on and off the field.

🔼 Back With The Bolts. Former SJSU standout Nehemiah Shelton is back with the Bolts.
Last week, Shelton signed a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, whom he spent last season with as a member of the practice squad.
🔼 Class Acts. The SJSU women’s gymnastics program continued its success in the classroom as 14 gymnasts from the 2024-25 team received Scholastic All-America honors based on data submitted to the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).
Three Spartans recorded a 4.0 GPA – Sophia Konieczny, Katherine Weyhmiller and Ella Power.
Of the 14 gymnasts, Madison Kirsch and Jaudai Lopes received the honor five times, joining former Spartan Jada Mazury as the only Spartans to accomplish this feat.
⏱️ COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: 9️⃣ DAYS
That’s right, we are just 9️⃣ days away from the return of Spartan football!

One of the breakout stars of last year’s SJSU defense was none other than #9️⃣ Noah McNeal Franklin.
In his second season with the Spartans, the Vallejo, Calif. native played in 10 games, piling up 53 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one interception.
He had a huge game in The Hawai‘i Bowl against South Florida, registering his first career sack and his first career INT.

During his five seasons at SJSU, how many times did Nehemiah Shelton earn all-conference accolades?
