🏈 GAME WEEK IS HERE!

Not that we’ve been counting or anything, but it’s been 247 days, 18 hours and 46 minutes (approximately) since we’ve seen SJSU football on the field.

That is about to change as GAME WEEK is HERE!

Training camp is over and preparation is in full swing as the Spartans get ready to play host to the Chippewas of Central Michigan.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 on Friday night.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Buzzer Beater. For the first time in 15 years, the SJSU men’s soccer team is 2-0 to start a season and they did so in dramatic fashion.

Arnold Matshazi scored the go-ahead goal with just seconds remaining on Sunday to give the Spartans a thrilling 2-1 road win over Saint Mary’s.

After falling behind in the 39th minute, the Spartans wasted little time responding. Anthony Guzman scored in the 43rd minute, finishing in the top right corner off a clever setup from Jesper Bakli to level the score at 1-1.

The match remained deadlocked until the final seconds when Matshazi delivered the game-winner in the 90th minute. Matshazi headed in the ball into the back of the net off a cross from Javier Lopez, sending the Spartans to their second straight win to start the season.

🔼 Angel Among Them. Add yet another line to the SJSU resume of Angel Iniguez.

Over the weekend, Iniguez was named to the Hermann Trophy watch list for the 2025 season. The Hermann Trophy is the nation’s highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year.

Last season, Iniguez was named WAC Offensive Player of the Year, becoming the first Spartan ever to win a player of the year award. Iniguez recorded 10 goals and seven assists, leading the team to an appearance in the WAC Championship game last year.

🔼 Coming Together. There’s nothing like getting the family together!

That’s exactly what happened last week when the annual Spartan Golf Classic presented by Provident Credit Union took place at Cinnabar Hills Golf Club.

Friends, family and supporters all came together to have a great afternoon on the links and support Spartan student-athletes!
