📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Block Party. Spartan volleyball brought the party to Fresno State last night! They beat the Bulldogs 3-1 to improve to an undefeated 9-0. Blaire Fleming led the Spartans with 16 kills, while Brooke Slusser had 35 assists and 13 digs. The Spartans will continue Mountain West play on Saturday when they host Boise State.
🔼 Fourth-Place Finish. The men’s golf team finished the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational with a fourth-place finish out of 22 teams. The Spartans finished with a score of 1-under. Zubair Firdaus finished sixth on the player leaderboard with a -3 score. Alaric Mercie finished as the runner-up in the individual event. The Spartans have a break until the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in early October.
🔼 Sweeping Singles. Women’s tennis players spent the weekend at the USTA SoCal Intercollegiate Championships. Cheuk Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia won their doubles and singles consolation matches on Sunday. They swept both of their singles opponents. The Spartans will be at the Cal Invitational this weekend.
🔼 Nick Nashty. No wide receiver in the country is having the season that Nick Nash is. He leads the nation with eight touchdown receptions, 637 receiving yards, 159.3 receiving yards per game, 50 receptions, and 12.5 receptions per game. CBS Sports Bay Area’s Matt Lively spoke to Nash about his time at SJSU and transitioning from quarterback to wide receiver.
🔼 Time To Peak. The women’s soccer team begins Mountain West play tomorrow night! They’ll host No. 10 Utah State at 6:30 p.m. The Spartans are coming off a 2-1 loss to San Francisco, while the Aggies haven’t lost a match all season. Fans staying at home can tune in to the match on the Mountain West Network.
