🔼 Road Rallying. We’re a month into the 2025 season and one thing is clear. Never count out the Spartans on the road.

The SJSU men’s soccer team used a second-half rally to improve to a perfect 5-0 on the road this year with a 2-1 win at UC Davis on Friday night.

Daniel Fregoso Bautista scored the equalizer and Arnold Matshazi scored the game winner, while goalkeeper Edgar Guerra anchored the backline with two key saves, earning his sixth win of the season. The Spartan defense limited UC Davis to just four shots in the second half.

🔼 Save The Dates. Pull out your calendars folks, we’ve got dates to lock in!

16 home dates highlight the 2025-26 SJSU men’s hoops schedule, which was unveiled this week.

This season will mark the fifth season under the helm of head coach Tim Miles.

🔼 Business In The Bay. After last week’s thriller at home, SJSU football heads to Stanford for the Bill Walsh Legacy Game, airing on the ACC Network.

The Spartans aim for their second straight win in the series after last year’s 34–31 home victory. A win would also mark SJSU’s first back-to-back victories over Stanford since a three-game streak from 1998–2000—all at Stanford—and their first road win in the rivalry since a 40–27 triumph on Sept. 8, 2000.

SJSU played Stanford starting quarterback Ben Gulbranson last season when he played at Oregon State (11/9/24). The Spartans won that contest, 24-13.

🔼 Grand Opening. What a way to open conference play!

The SJSU vollyeball team kicked off Mountain West action on Thursday night, winning a five-set thriller over visiting UNLV, 3-2 (26-24, 25-27, 25-20, 25-27, 15-10).

The trio of Ava Hewitt-Smith (10), Lolo Fonua (16) and Morgan Graves (14) combined for 40 kills on the night, but none bigger than Hewitt-Smith’s 10th of the night which sealed the victory in the fifth and final set.

🔼 Point Taken. Paige Fry continued her stellar season in goal for the SJSU women’s soccer team on Thursday night, racking up fourth game of seven or more saves to help the Spartans earn a point on opening night of Mountain West play, drawing with UNLV, 2-2.

The Spartans got on the board early when Leslie Jacobo Duran scored in the seventh minute, but the Rebels responded with a goal of their own less than a minute later.

Paige Pineda Aliamus scored right before halftime to send SJSU into the break with a lead, but UNLV would find the equalizer late in the second half to secure the draw.
