📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Strong & Steady. The gymnastics team recorded the second-best team score in school history, and best of the season! They scored a 196.650 in a meet at No. 3 California with UC Davis. Mia Nelson scored a season-high 9.950 to tie for first on floor. The floor squad earned a 49.475, the second-best in school history. The Spartans have recorded seven top-10 team scores so far this season! They’ll take on the first-ever Mountain West Championship at Utah State on Saturday at 6 pm.

🔼 Took Over The Nest. There were many Spartan track & field wins on Saturday at the Hornet Invitational! Both men’s and women’s 4×100 crews took first-place in the meet. The women’s 4×400 team of Sarah Mosteller, Aliyah Williams, Savana Dutton, and Alyssa Bean also won their event, while the men’s 4×400 team took second. Aliyah also finished second in the women’s 400m dash. Demaris Waters added on to the Spartans win total, winning the men’s 110m hurdles. Malachi Snow was behind him in third-place.

🔼 All Bark, No Bite. Spartan softball shook the first day jitters, beating New Mexico in the final two games after dropping game one. The Spartans won 4-1 on Saturday behind a Mia Reynolds complete game with five strikeouts. She tied her career-high in innings pitched and strikeouts. Shay McDowell went 2-for-3 with a run scored in that contest. The Spartan bats stayed alive in Sunday’s finale, as they took a 9-3 win. Reina Zermeno went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Haley Reeve also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. They play at LMU this weekend, beginning on Saturday.

🔼 Swept The Court. The women’s tennis team beat Nevada 4-0 yesterday. Irena Muradyan won her singles and doubles match with Cheuk Ying Shek. Duru Durgun also won her singles match and doubles with Rozalina Youseva to clinch the point. The Spartans improved to 9-2 overall and 5-0 at home.

🔼 Bowling Bombs. Saturday was a perfect one for Dalton Bowling as he went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run in the first inning. It marked his third-straight game with a home run and he now leads the Mountain West with eight this season. Jackson Forbes also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk. Pitcher Micky Thompson also had a great day on the mound. He threw seven shutout innings with five strikeouts. The Spartans beat Fresno State on Saturday, 4-2, but dropped Friday and Sunday’s matchups.

⚔️ ONE BIG THING

Finished Strong. A handful of Spartans competed at the CSCAA National Invitational Swimming Championships over the weekend! Ela Freiman recorded a school record 56:69 100-yard individually medley to place 11th and lead the team on the final day. She also finished in 14th in the 200-yard IM. The 400-yard freestyle relay squad of Dalton Sickon, Reagan Mathieson, Lais e Silva, and Quincy Key finished in fourth. The Spartans finished the meet 23rd out of 52 teams.
