📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Jump Around. Spartan track & field’s Emilia Sjostrand was named Mountain West Women’s Field Athlete of the Week! She picked up two first-place finishes at last weekend’s Fresno State Invitational. She won the women’s long jump invite with a 6.32m jump. She also won the women’s triple jump with a 13.43m leap. She ranks fifth in the nation in the triple jump.

🔼 Hard Battle. Spartan baseball battled hard after going down early against Saint Mary’s yesterday. They scored runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings to tie up the game, but Saint Mary’s fired back in the seventh. The Gaels won 6-4. Hunter Dorraugh went 3-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to six games. Jake Maroney and Dalton Bowling added big hits in the Spartans effort to tie the game.

🔼  Shot Caller. Quarterback Chevan Cordeiro signed with the Seattle Seahawks as a free agent over the weekend. He was 2023 All-Mountain West First Team and Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. He’s the conference’s all-time leader with 113 touchdowns responsible for, 13,811 yards gained, and 971 completions.

🔼 Stick Together. Defensive lineman Jay Kakiva will be alongside Chevan Cordeira with the Seahawks. He finished the 2023 season with career-highs with 43 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. He recorded a career-high nine tackles against Air Force.

🔼 Turn On The Jets. Safety Tre Jenkins signed a contract with the New York Jets. He was a three-year All-Mountain West Honorable Mention selection and a two-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete. He’s the all-time games played leader at San José State with 59. He finished his career with 247 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries, three sacks, six interceptions, and 14 pass deflections.
