🔼  This Is Sparta. San José State was recognized by Mercury News and Bay Area News Group readers as the Best College Sports Team in the annual Best of the Silicon Valley awards. The Spartans earned a top-100 finish in the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Standings with the second-highest finish in school history. In 2023, the Spartans were one of 31 schools to have baseball, men’s basketball, and football make the postseason. Read all about the Spartans’ success here!

🔼  Flipping Into Postseason. The Spartans gymnastics team will make their ninth NCAA Regional appearance tomorrow at the Berkeley Regional. They’ll compete against Southern Utah at 2 pm in the first round. The winner will advance to the second round to compete in Friday’s second session at 7 pm. If the Spartans don’t advance as a team, they’ll still be represented by Lauren Macpherson, Jada Mazury, and Katherine Weyhmiller as individuals.

🔼 On Course. Women’s golfer Kajsa Arwefjäll will be teeing off at the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur today at 5:46 am PT. You can watch rounds one and two on the Golf Channel from 10:30 am-12:30 pm today and tomorrow. Saturday’s final round will be live on NBC from 10 am-12 pm.

🔼 Double Down. Spartan softball will host some midweek Mountain West action at Spartan Softball Complex today. They’ll play Fresno State in a doubleheader, beginning at 3 pm. The Spartans are coming off a win at Boise State that included two home runs. Both of today’s games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.

🔼 Paint The Town Blue. Spartan baseball completed the season series win over Santa Clara in their third matchup of the year! The Spartans won 11-8 last night. Nathan Cadena and Zach Griffin launched home runs in the big win over the Broncos. Jesse Gutierrez recorded a career-high five strikeouts through two innings of relief. The Spartans will host San Diego State at home this weekend.

The Western Intercollegiate, one of the premiere college golf tournaments in the country, is back for its 77th edition, April 15-17, at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz. Six of the top 10 golfers in the world are Western Alum, including #1 Scott Scheffler.
